New PIGs coming soon...
Well, it has been a while since we dropped the news about the latest new addition we are welcoming into the fold - THE PIG-in the Cotswolds, so thought it was about time we gave you a bit of an update on our progressing plans for the three new PIGs…
It’s been full speed ahead in the charming Cotswold village of Barnsley since we secured the stunning 17th century Barnsley House and The Village Pub that sits just a few doors down. We couldn’t wait to get our hands on these genuinely unspoilt gems, both built in that iconic buff-coloured Cotswold stone and with all the makings of a PIG and a classic British pub already in their bones.
Our focus has been on renovating The Village Pub and its six bedrooms, which opened its doors in June. Whilst the main House joins the rest of the PIG litter, the Pub has taken on a life of its own – it’s a bit different from what you’re used to seeing from us, but you can expect a simple and hearty menu, a serious wine list, roaring open fires and always a warm welcome from behind the bar.
Meanwhile over the road... We’ve been getting to know Barnsley House intimately. There’s not a nook or cranny of this beautiful building that we haven’t explored and there’s been a fair bit to do to sensitively restore and revive it. We’ll be opening the doors of this PIG on the 8th September and room bookings are now open!
They say anything worth having is worth the wait, and the next two PIGs certainly live up to this. Historic buildings need patience, attention to detail, expert craftmanship and a whole lot of love to breathe new life back into them. This all takes time… and with our focus currently on THE PIG-in the Cotswolds it means the future looks a bit like this… autumn 2025 sees the opening of THE PIG-on the farm, set in 53 acres of pasture and arable land just outside Stratford-upon-Avon, and in 2026 we will welcome one of the most renowned and historic buildings on the border of Kent and East Sussex, THE PIG-at Groombridge Place, into the litter.
We couldn’t be more excited to share them all with you!
An exciting journey ahead
THE PIG-in the Cotswolds
Tucked away in the quintessential Cotswold village of Barnsley, just 4 miles from Cirencester, this little gem of a property has all the makings of a PIG already weaved into its DNA… with a few twists!
It comes with its very own village pub – which will be a first for us – a PIG pub! It also has a small but perfectly formed spa which will see us extend our Potting Sheds beyond our treatment offerings.
Opening summer 2024
THE PIG–on the farm
Just south of Stratford-Upon-Avon comes THE PIG-on the farm – a mid-16th century listed stone-built Manor House set in 53 acres of pasture and arable land in the heart of rural England.
THE PIG-on the farm has a long driveway that will lead you to the farm, which is on the southwest edge of the Walton Estate in South Warwickshire close to the borders of Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.
Opening 2025
THE PIG–at Groombridge
One of the most renowned and historic buildings on the border of Kent and East Sussex, Groombridge Place is a moated manor house in the village of Groombridge southwest of Tunbridge Wells.
Formerly known as Groombridge Place, THE PIG-at Groombridge was built in 1662 by barrister and architect Philip Packer, with the help of his friend Christopher Wren. Plans for this historic house are ongoing, but it is certain that all bedrooms will enjoy the striking views across the property’s moat, gardens or vineyard.
Opening 2026
Stay in the know about our new openings
Three new PIGs in the pipeline feels big, but nothing like we haven’t worked on before (somehow, we managed to open two during COVID!)
We really are excited by them – each is so different from the next, and over the next 18 months we will be working hard to create places that we know you will love. With a fair wind behind us we hope to open…
