Everything we do across THE PIGs begins in the Kitchen Garden… and as the seasons shift, there’s no better time to get your hands dirty and start plotting plans in your home garden for the months ahead.

Head to our house in the heart of the New Forest at the original PIG for a relaxed and inspiring gardening talk, led by our Kitchen Garden gurus. You’ll pick up plenty of top tips and tricks on planning, planting, and growing, along with extra special PIG insights like our favourite varieties that see us through the year!

After the talk, you’ll head out into the Kitchen Garden where you can wander through our veg beds, peek into our polytunnels, discover our greenhouses, see what we're growing in our fruit cages, and say hello to our four-legged and feathered friends.

From the Kitchen Garden, you’ll pull up a chair in our cosy private dining spaces and settle in for a delicious two-course piggy lunch, perfectly paired with generous pours of our PIG Cut wines.

What's included?

You'll be welcomed in with a freshly baked pastry and a steaming cup of coffee or tea when you arrive, before the talk starts.

After you’ve stretched your legs around our grounds, we’ll take you into our cosy private dining space, where you’ll dig into a two-course set lunch menu with generous pours of our very own PIG Cut Wine - all included in the price of your ticket!

This lunch is a relaxed, sociable supper, gathered around one big table – if you’ve booked with friends, just give us a shout so we can make sure you’re all sitting together. Everything will be prepped ahead of your arrival, right down to the name cards on the table.

Meet your host...

Ollie Hutson is the Group Head Kitchen Gardener for THE PIG (otherwise known as their Kitchen Garden guru!). Having always been a keen veg grower, growing up around his grandad’s allotment in the New Forest, Ollie was keen to get away from the family business of hospitality – his dad is experienced hotelier, Robin Hutson, who originally set up the Hotel Du Vin group. But, “when my old man founded THE PIG in 2011, my skillset was relevant and I couldn’t stay away!”

Ollie has headed up the gardening teams, who grow and harvest homegrown Kitchen Garden produce for THE PIG’s 25 mile menus, ever since. When approaching any new garden, Ollie is passionate that “you should want to do justice to the gardeners who came before you and also leave them in a good state for the gardeners who will come after. I strongly believe you are only a custodian of any garden for a while.
